Used Honda – The S2000 May Be Gone, But Not Forgotten

Would you believe that the Honda S2000 is a decade old and is still yet to receive the recognition that it deserves for being one of the best quality sports roadsters currently available in Britain or any other country you would care to mention? After a decade of being largely ignored in favour of lesser production cars like the Mazda MX-5 and RX-8, production of the Honda S2000 ceased earlier this year. I for one would count myself as one of the chief mourners of this oft-looked over example of automotive genius.

For almost half the price of the equivalent powered Porsche model, the Honda S2000 matched all of its rivals in the BHP, Torque and 0-60 time stakes. The incredible surge of power that came from the tuned VTEC engine was one of the most thrilling accelerations I think I have ever experienced in my life. Yet it still lost out in the market share, thanks largely to the lack of ‘cool’ that surrounds the Honda badge.

The final major positive of this car was that Honda’s insistence of unrivalled levels of reliability also filtered through into their high-performance sport models. That meant that in a rare and shocking manner, it was possible to buy a sports car that didn’t break down every 15 miles or so.

The sad reality is that we have to wave goodbye to the Honda S2000, but if you ever find yourself wanting to buy yourself  a truly affordable sports car, then I am sure you will be able to find a cheap second hand version on the Used Honda market.
